Outreach events 2011

  • Peter Lewis Whitbird April * Peter Lewis Whitebird  After a tuff fight with Cancer Pete returned to give his special brand of country music and insight.
Pete and Judy Whitebird travel thousands of miles each year. Pete has ministered to groups as small as 8 and as large as 5,000! Their only goal; to see lives changed by the saving life of Christ. Pete sings his songs to thousands, but he sings to one soul at a time.

  • The Wintons March * The Wintons  “Four years. That's how long the Wintons–Randy and his two sons, Cody and Jesse–  have been playing gospel and bluegrass music together.

Randy had changed careers and started a business so he could spend more time working with and discipling his boys, but when some medical issues and new additions to their family forced them all to spend much more time together than they ever expected, it was a blessing in disguise. Being homebound meant there was time to develop their musical abilities through practice, practice, practice. A band was born, and a ministry grew out of the trials that proved the strength of God truly is perfected in weakness.  The Wintons Web Site

Don EdwardsJuly * Don Edwards  * Sonora Opera Hall Outreach Concert

Grammy nominated singer-guitarist Don Edwards continues to build a legacy that enriches our vision of the American West.  In tales of the day-to-day lives and emotions of those who have lived it, his ballads paint a sweeping landscape of both mind and heart, keeping alive the sights, sounds and feelings of this most American contribution to culture and art.  The quality of this cowboy balladeer's music stems from the fact that he is so much more than a singer.  Bobby Weaver of the National Cowboy Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, summed up Edwards' importance as "...the best purveyor of cowboy music in America today."

An historian, author, and musicologist, unusually well-versed in cowboy lore and musical traditions, Don brings a rare compliment of knowing and loving his craft.  Mostly though, there is the soul of a poet; a man who has never succumbed to the temptations of presenting a glamorized or romanticized version of the West.   Don Edwards Web Site
